She was assigned to be a apothacary's apprentice. She had a great time dressing the part. And she was especially excited about having long hair.

* I was looking through m blog drafts and came across this blog I never published. It was to good not to publish. Made me teary eyed. So I am publishing it a little late*

Well Ashlynn's 7th birthday is coming up here in a little over a month. And the other night as we were cleaning up from dinner she said "Mom can I make a birthday wish list?" So I asked her what kind of things she would want to write on her wish list and she mentioned one toy that she wanted and then she said and "I want a love note from you and Daddy" I asked her what kind of a love note? She explained she just wanted me to write her a little note telling her "how much I love her and what I love". I then asked her if there was anything else on her wish list and then of course she added "you could give me a little treat (candy bar I assume) with my love note". What a sweet little girl. Of all the things in the world a seven year old could and would want.... She asked for a "love note from us". I love my kids! They always surprise me!

OK so Bella and Rick and I have been working hard to earn money for her Philly trip. I am so proud of how hard she has worked for this. Carwash's, weeding, sorting cans, paper route, selling crafty stuff at almost EVERY saturday's farmers market, babysitting, having a garage sale. The list goes on and on. I am proud to say we have over half the $2400. that she needs. Which is way more than any of her classmates. So I will show you what has helped her make the most money. These paracord bracelets and necklaces.

Its the little moments like this that we miss most.
It is so hard to articulate the emotion that I feel when I am able to look out the window and see all our children together. It is not a feeling that we get to feel often. I feel a overwhelming sense of peace and love. I guess you could say I feel whole. It is a feeling that I think most parents take for granted in everyday life.
Jason was able to come visit for a little over a week this month and it was so great having him here. The first night he was here the three older kids all slept out on the tramp. I am not sure how comfortable it was but they had fun none the less.

So we moved like a week or 2 before Halloween. And it was crazy. I was like 20 months pregnant by that time, and always tired....

No I did not make this.... I wish... But we did win it at the church's silent auction thingy.

Rick made this delicious adorable meal. Peas and potato soup with rolls decorated like pumpkins, the kids helped decorate the rolls. they each decorated their own but I forgot to take pics until it was just mine and Ricks left.

These are the MOST amazing Caramel apples I have ever tried.... We got teh idea from some caramel apples at Coldstone Creamery. Take a caramel apple then dip/pour white chocolate on it. Then sprinkle/ roll brown sugar and cinnamon on it. YuMMY!

We were able to go to Jason's first football game of the season. He is playing Varsity this year. He has been in the starting line up. It was so great to see him play. It is one of the many things we miss out on living far away. Which makes us really cherish it when we do get to be there. I didnt get any close up pics of Jas because he didnt know we were coming we surprised him and just showed up at his game.

These photos tell a story. Altough they are funny just when you look at them, they are funnier when you know the whole story.
So this summer we decided it was time to adjust Lindsay's crib into a day bed type bed. So to make a long story short she is able to get in and out of her bed when she wants.... We also moved her so she shares a room with Ashlynn now instead of with Bella. So the night these pictures were taken was her first night in the new bed and new bedroom. We had tried to put her in bed a few times and she just kept getting out and so we put the gate up to keep her in the room at least. We figured she would wear herself out and get bored and then give up and get in bed... Rick went to the gym to work out and I was on the computer and she was being a stinker and yelling my name "Mommy!" over and over and over again, then I heard her saying "Mommy help me!!!" well she is not my first child so I know the "routine" SO I was trying hard to ignore it and teach her that bed time "bed time". I let her crying and pleading go on for about 5-10 min. (And dont get me wrong it was hard not to go get her) but finally I decided I would go and try again to lay her back down again (hoping she had wore herself out a little with her crying.... I got up and walked down the hall towards her room and I saw her little legs sticking out from under the gate... I felt awful! She had wedged herself under the gate (trying to escape) and she was stuck and had been yelling "mommy help me" and me thinking it was just a ploy to get out of the room (which it still was a ploy to get her out of the room) I had ignored it. Of course as soon as she saw me she got a proud smile on her face so I felt I could grab my camera and take a picture so her Dad could see it. Needless to say she hasnt tried escaping that way anymore. Gosh I love that girl!

A friend of mine from our ward does sewing and quilting classes. Both the girls took a class.

Ashlynn took a beginner sewing class. (she made a beautiful pillowcase) that she loves to sleep on because she says it is super soft.

And Bella made a awesome quilt. She just finished her class today. I think she made sure to put her name on it so I couldnt steal it. :) Both of them can't wait to do another class. They loved it.

It is that time of year again. School clothes shopping! We went to the Nike employee store yesterday for the first time ever. ( A friend was able to get us a pass to get in for a day)
It was funny they all liked the same shoes. (well to be honest Lindsay liked ALL the shoes) she kept saying "I want that one and that one and that one...."
Everything at the Nike employee store is half off the regular retail value. SO that helps a little bit. We just got them school shoes, and then Jason some football gear.

We celebrated Lindsay's Birthday the first week of July. She sang happy birthday to herself for weeks. It is so wonderful to hear her sweet little voice singing songs. I love it!
Some of her favorite things are:
*She loves to follow Ashlynn everywhere (if Ashes is in the living room with us and Lindz wants to play she comes and grabs Ashes by the hand and says "come on Ashes" and pulls her)
*She LOVES to be in the kitchen all the time she says "I help you"
*She climbs up on top of the table and says "look I a giant"
*Her favorite songs are The wise man built his house upon the rock, The Chapel doors, I am a child of God, 3 little monkeys swinging in the tree, Popcorn popping, Jesus wants me for a sunbeam. ANd the list goes on and on.... She can hear a song 2-3 times and then I will hear her singing it. She loves singing!
*She tells me all the time she loves Grandpa and Grandma. Mostly while we are driving in the
car. She says "we going to Grandpa and Grandmas house!"
* She loves Dinosaurs and animals.

Some cute things she says:
*The other day Bella stole a french fry off Lindsay's plate and Lindsay said "no no you goober"
*She loves the movie Princess and the Frog and she sometimes says "you a stick in the mud!" (a line from the movie)
* She puts her hands on her Dads cheeks and says either "Poky" or "thats smooth" depending on if he has shaved recently.
* SHe points to my Belly and says Baby brother. This might turn out to be confusing later. :)
*She knows the Verizon logo (her dads work logo) and whenever we are driving down the street and pass a Verizon van or vehicle she says "thats Daddy's Verizon"
* The other day when my sister was here visiting us we were all in the kitchen and Lindsay was standing on a stool and she saw the garlic press in my Kitchen tools and told Tracy "thats Daddys" and then she proceeded to point to an Ice Cream scoop and say "thats Mommys" This kid is way more observant than we can ever realize. Tracy had a good laugh about that.

I cant even think of all the cute things she says. SHe makes me laugh every moment of every day. She keeps me on my toes for sure. But I don't know what I would do without each and every one of my kids.

So Bella is going on a Handcart trek with the youth from our ward this summer. This week they had a "fashion show" to show off all their outfits. It was pretty funny to watch some of these kids model their outfits. I have never been on a Trek like this but I am sure it will be a experience that she will never forget.

Well I had my first doctors appointment on Monday. That was "fun" ... I had made myself an appointment for the first ultra sound on next Monday. But yesterday they called me and told me they really felt due to my past pregnancy troubles, they wanted me to come in this week for the ultra sound (not next week) SO I am going in tomorrow morning. When they called me back it was kinda hard because it was like my own little wake up call that I am not "out of the water yet" just because I have announced it (way earlier than I did with past pregnancy's) doesn't mean I am "safe" So it kinda made me stop and think and wonder if I could handle it if something was wrong? Could my kids? I know the answer is yes. But I still haven't slept very good since this realization hit me. I am sure it will all be fine and all this worrying will have been for nothing. But either way I cant wait till tomorrow.

Dentist

This morning I took the girls in to get their teeth cleaned and check for cavities. It was Lindsay's first dentist appointment, they had explained to me that when the dentist comes in to look at her teeth that I will need to hold her on my lap facing me and then have her lean back and hold her arms while the dentist looks. About the same time that the assistant was explaining all this to me, Lindsay crawled out of my lap and climbed up and plopped down in the big chair and gave us a big smile... I still planned on holding her in my lap when the dentist did come in, But it ended up I didnt need too, they reclined the chair and the whole time she just had a huge smile on her face and opened right up for the dentist. I warned the dentist that she bites my fingers while I am trying to brush her teeth all the time. But OF COURSE she didnt even try to bite the dentist (dont get me wrong I was relieved but what a stinker....) When she was all done she got to go pick out a book.
Oh yeah and No Cavities for any of my kiddos wahoo!

We are lucky to have the ocean right here close to us, we dont take advantage of it nearly as much as we should.... We always have a great time when we go there. We decided to go to Seaside this time, and for the first time we decided to rent one of those bike bus things... It was way hard to pedal with all that weight on it, but I am sure it was a memory that the kids will never forget. We also got about 10 pounds of salt water taffy I think. We had a great time.

This is Lindsay favorite thing to do... Well one of her favorite things anyways.... She loves getting into my purse and wallet. She emptys the whole thing out. If she happens to find any gum in it she makes sure she chews it all to smitherings.... Needless to say "I" go through about 2 packs of gum week, out of the 2 packs I think that I get about 2 pieces (if I am lucky)

A few weeks ago they did this contest at the outdoor mall near where we live. The contest was "dads" dress up like Taylor Swift and they had too get up on stage and sing one of her songs... It was hilarious!!! I was so suprised at how many of them shaved not only their legs but their arm pits and chests too... Bella really enjoyed watching it too. The winner got a meet and greet with Taylor Swift for him and his daughter, and backstage passes, amoung many other prizes....

This is Lindsay new favorite place to hang out. She loves being under the table. When the girls eat their breakfast in the morning she crawls over there and stands at their legs and giggles, (with the occasional grunt and tug trying to get something to eat). She is such a happy sweet baby.

We have tons of really beautiful trails in the area. So we enjoy going for walks as a family. Lindsay is no exception on this.... She always sits at the edge of her stroller seat with much anticipation, while her arms and body both bounce up and down... It makes a smile instantly come to my face when I see her so happy. I wish that life were that simple for everyone, that just being outside made us get all giddy with excitement....

Sick Baby

Well Lindsay has been pretty sick for the last few days... I have forgotten how hard it is when you have a sick baby who cant tell you when her ears hurt, or throat, or her head.... We went to the doctor yesterday morning and we went again this afternoon.... This past weekend she had a virus, but now she seems to be just suffering from allergies and he asthma. These are some pictures I took today, her little eyes and nose wont stop running. I feel so bad for her.

What a funny husband I have!!! So we have a little inside joke between Rick and I... and that is, that whenever he is does something special with the kids (and I am not there) I always ask (ok more like demand) for him to take pictures.... And he always forgets too... So lately I have been making threats... (ok not really) but I have been giving him a hard time about always forgetting. So when it came time for the Daddy daughter Dash fr Bella's Girls Achivement Activity I reminded him to take the camera, and asked him to try and get a few photos... Ok so maybe I teased him about "always" forgetting... Well a few days later when I was uploading photos I laughed SO hard.....

He obviously forgot to take photos during the dash, so he had Bella pose (in front of our apartment....) And by the look on his face in the photos I am pretty sure he is mocking me too.... I couldnt help but laugh. What a great husband I have.

HANNAH MONTANA MOVIE

Rick told the girls that he would take them to Hannah Montana the movie (while I was in Idaho) they ended up deciding to wait so I could go with them, so for Family Home Evening on the Monday after I got home we all went to Hannah Montana. We had a fun time, of course it wasnt my number one pick for a movie that I was going to pay to see in a theatre but hey Ashlynn loved it so that makes it worth it, right?

Dad joined us for a quick game of Fill or Bust... After that he was wiped out. But Josh and Kristie and Mom and I all continued on to play Settlers of Catan later.... Which Kristie won one game and then Josh won the other.....
Lindsay had fun playing pat a cake with Kristie. It was funny before this trip she wouldnt let anyone but Mommy and Dad and sisters near her. (for the most part) And yet she went right to my parents and she warmed right up to Kristie as well. After a little bit she eventually went to my aunt Sharen as well.

Lindsay had a great time visiting Grandma and Grandpa Wallace. She was so good for me. She just enjoyed having open space to explore. She also loved when Grandma and Mommy took her for a walk around the church. She loved letting Grandpa rock her to sleep and she loved it when Grandma would play hide and seek and peek a boo with her. She loved seeing Grandma walk through the door after work.
As for me I enjoyed spending precious time with my parents. I am so blessed that I could be there to help out in a time of need. I enjoyed being able to help my Dad with his IV's.
I have realized for years how important they are to me. I regret not realizing this earlier in my life... I regret my kids not living closer to both of their grandparents.... I look back and see how significant my grandparents were in my life. I saw them usually monthly. If I had Grandparents day at school they were there. On Christmas we would make stops at both Grandparents and see them and our cousins. As well as many other holidays, or significant events. School programs, choir concerts, sports, church recognitons.... They were there! Thank you to my parents for living close enough to make all that possible. And to my grandparents for always doing your best to make us feel important.
We moved away from all our family over 8 years ago now. And we are ready to be back closer to them. Can you tell? Rick has been loking for a job in the Boise area for months. He would like to stay with his company. So we have been praying for an oppritunity. I know if it is Gods will than a way will be provided for us. (I just hope he hurrays) just kidding.

This pics were taken on April 1st. She had just gotten to the point where she was figuring out how to crawl a foot or two.... But she would pull herself up to stnad next to things (while holding onto them) She thought she was SO big. The last few weeks she has come ALONG ways.... she crawls all over the place, she pulls herself upto stand by anything. She also started giving kisses, but only if you are very very lucky! She used to give just Mommy kisses but lately Dad has been able to bribe her into giving her a kiss or two. :) It is so easy to see the blessings my Heaven Father has given me when I have family to look at each and every day. Spring Break FUN with the Hollis family

Mandi and her boys came and stayed with us for part of their Spring Break. We had a great time. (though we missed Justin) It really made us miss all of our great friends in Northern Idaho. We have lots of great memories of some great laughs with them, and great times.

While they were here we went to the Oregon Zoo
My favorite part of the zoo is the MONKEYS. And Ilove the elephants too (mostly because of the baby elephant though) She is adorable!

Everytime I think of ice fishing I think of the movie Grumpy old men or grumpier old men starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Mattau. (Rick wanted to go Ice fishing with my Dad. It was something he had never done. ) He thought maybe Jason would enjoy going too, so My Dad, Josh, Rick and Jason all went Ice fishing... I know Rick enjoyed it, but Jason probably wont be dong that again. :)

Valentines Dinner and Concert

We really enjoyed watching Jason's concert. They did a really cute job with it. The seating was all assigned and when they sat you each had little place settings, then you had a waiter come and ask if you want "white or red" it took me a second to realize the waiter was asking if I want white grape sparking cider or cranberry. :) It was really cute.

So the other day (a few days after Christmas) we were at Target looking for a place to park. Well we finally found a really good spot. Rick was driving and so he pulled into the spot and then a lady (who was around the corner of the isle so not even in our Isle of traffic....) pulled around and flipped us off... Now I don't know what we did but I am assuming that she must have wanted that parking spot. Well than she went and parked (like 5 cars away) and came walking towards our car as we were getting out. I was unbuckling Lindsay and Rick was unbuckling Ashlynn. And she came up and was just glaring at us, and kinda stood behind the car for a brief second. I thought she was going to say something, but she finally kept walking in to the store. But it really bothered me for some reason. I was so offended that this woman who could very possibly be a Grandma herself was so rude. I know I am a little naive when it comes to the cruelty that some people can posses. Or maybe I was still just feeling a little bit of the Christmas spirit, OR maybe I was just upset that she acted that way with my children around... I don't know but I was upset about it.
Then this last week I was driving to Portland to the Heiners and I was on the Freeway and I switched lanes to the far right lane, well once I got over I realized there was a police car with its lights on in that lane, so I switched back. When the "sweet girl" behind me came around me and flipped me off... Then when she got in front of me and realized why I had switched over she then had to jump back over to my lane....
I don't know why people do it, I don't know if it really makes them feel THAT much better. But from where I stand it makes the person doing the flipping off look pretty ignorant and silly... I cant help but wonder where they learned to treat other people like that?
If any of you reading this right now flips people off when they get angry??? Maybe you should rethink it....

Well Lindsay has been feeling pretty crummy the last month or more. She has had a cough that she can't get rid of, mixed with other symptoms. The doctor thinks she might have Asthma. So yesterday she was prescribed a inhaler and than after another rough night last night. Today we went back to the doctor again and she is getting nebulizer treatments of Albuterol. These pics are of Rick doing her treatment tonight. Poor thing doesnt feel very good. Usually she would fight us putting that thing over her face or at least she would try eating it... But tonight she just laid there looking at us. We are just hoping that she doesnt get any worse.

Well this last week has been wonderful... We had snow.... I loved it! The kids were out of school ALL week this last week (because of the snow) So they are getting a three week Christmas vacation.... Anyways today we got the most amount of snow so far and so Rick and the girls all went and played out side, when he got home from work. They were having so much fun that Lindsay and I decided to go down and see what was going on..... Lindsay and I stayed out there for less than 2-3 minutes. But she sure had fun and she was upset when we had to bring her in.

I walked in the living room this morning and this is what I saw... Lindsay was helping Bella play Mario Cart. It was pretty cute. She is really getting good at holding onto things (and not letting go) and she is really good at grabbing things she wants. Both her sisters are so good with her. A few weeks ago I was able to see my cousin Tara and (her soon to be husband) Betz and her kids. We had a great time visiting. I havent seen her in years, It was great catching up with her and getting to know her kids. I really enjoyed meeting Betz, I wish I could have gotten to know him better. But he was pretty busy playing Rugby, which by the way is a way awesome and extremely insane sport. Not for the weak of heart... It is not something I would ever want to watch my husband or children play... I will put it that way. It was my first time ever seeing Rugby being played. And I really enjoyed it.
I look forward to getting to know Betz better next summer at the family reunions. He seems like a great guy. (Tara congratulations on the (recent) engagment. And Betz welcome to the family.

The Great Pumpkin

We decided to try something a little different this year.... We decided to have the
"Great Pumpkin" pay a little visit.... Some of our friends do a little thing called the great pumpkin with their kids every year, basically the children go through their candy and decide how much candy they are going to give to the "Great Pumpkin" And then in return the "Great Pumpkin" gives them a toy based on how much candy they give.... SO, for example if the children give 10 mini candy bars out of 200 then they get a cheapy dollar store toy. BUT... if they give 190 candy bars out of 200 then they get a cooler toy.
I like this idea because first of all do the kids really need 5 pounds of chocolate sitting around (or do I for that matter)?
Second of all... it really teaches choice and consequence in a different way.
Third of all I really liked seeing my kids give in faith that they would get something better back.
It was fun seeing them pick and choose what they are going to give... At times it almost seemed as though they were agonizing over it. And I would just remind them that they didn't have to give anything if they didn't want to. It was entirely up to them.

Pumpkin Farm

Well we decided to take a little trip to the pumpkin farm. We also decided to be naughty and take the girls out of school 2 hours early (which take my word for it we never do...) It was REALLY embarrassing when I saw Ashlynn's teacher in the office and she asked me where we were going (why I was taking Ashlynn out early) and I cant lie about anything so I told her we were going to the pumpkin farm.... I was pretty embarrassed, But Rick decided not to work overtime on Monday so we could go to the pumpkin farm with our friends the Johnsons.
The pumpkin farm is only like 10 min. away but I took some pictures because I thought it was so pretty.

Politics Schmolotics....

This election season I am having a particularly hard time deciding who and what to vote for.... In my voters pamphlet (more like a book) there are at least 12 measures.... I am having a hard time on some of them. And then there are some people who I am just not sure which I would choose... I feel as though I am having to choose the lesser of two evils. Am I the only one who feels this way? Don't get me wrong I feel it is a duty and a privilege to vote... But sometimes it is hard to choose. And I know that one thing is for sure I cant wait for all these negative commercials to be over with.
